Written on Skin: Opera in Three Parts wins Premiere Recording of the Year Award

The Nimbus recording of George Benjamin’s opera Written on Skin (also conducted by Mr. Benjamin) has won the BBC Music Magazine Premiere Recording of the Year Award. The album features a live recording from the premiere performance at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in July 2012. Bejun Mehta received rave reviews for his creation of the roles Angel 1 and The Boy, “The countertenor Bejun Mehta exuded sacred passion as the Boy and as the lead angel, airily executing the Handelian ornaments that Benjamin wove into the part” (The New Yorker) and “Bejun Mehta’s Boy is bell-bright” (The Telegraph).
