The 2013 live video recording of George Benjamin’s Written on Skin from the Royal Opera House has received the 2014 Gramophone Award in the Contemporary category as well as the Edison Klassiek 2014 music prize. The performance features Bejun Mehta in the role of Angel 1/The Boy. Bejun received rave reviews for his creation of the roles, “The countertenor Bejun Mehta exuded sacred passion as the Boy and as the lead angel, airily executing the Handelian ornaments that Benjamin wove into the part” (The New Yorker) and “Bejun Mehta’s Boy is bell-bright” (The Telegraph).
